About the Writer, Richard Carlson Jr.
I was born in 1971 and have written a total of three manuscripts in the Karliff children's novel series of which all are about a boy named Karliff.
I have paranoid schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder which are mental illnesses that are treated with medications. I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at almost twenty-one years of age. I didn't realize I had the mental illness until I was thirty-three.
What is Paranoid Schizophrenia?
Paranoid schizophrenia is a very serious brain disease that affects people in a negative way in that their thinking is greatly impaired. It usually can be treated with medication. To date, there is no cure for the disorder of the mind. Some symptoms include audio and visual hallucinations and also delusions which might seem very real to the person with the condition.
What is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a mental illness whereby the person affected has difficulty making decisions with such things as with cleanliness. I for example, had difficulty making rational decisions regarding being polite and had a difficult time with such things as cleaning hairs out of socks and other articles of clothing even after they were washed.
